The best parts about reading biccileta book are 1 getting to visit so many different places, 2 getting inside of David Byrne’s head a little, since the writing is drawn from his journals that he kept during his travels, which means a little bizarre-o art and music, a little interesting bicicletw stuff, and a look inside what’s bouncing around his brain on his visit to wherever he is actually, he reminds me a little bit of myself.
Despite the book being called Bicycle Diariesthere is far more to this than tales of David Byrne adventures riding around various cities, in fact the actual cycle rides are a small, though interesting, part of this book.

The Istanbul chapter is a good one, a nice mix of cycling, exploring, action, and even a music festival I would have loved to davis heard more about this. This time, Byrne talks about bicycling, which for him is not just an affectation or an occasional indulgence—cycling is his primary mode of transportation when he’s at home in New York City, and often when he is on the road as well.

It’s best when he’s sounding more relaxed using fun words like the aforementioned “yikes” and a personal favourite “fuck”and when he’s discussing urban design – especially in relation to cycling – and actual stuff he did rather than pondering some intellectual puzzle or trying too hard with the poetic phrasing.
It has particular design elements no spoilers here that add a nice touch and the contents range from dxvid bike rides to meeting artists and discussing the evolution of art. Byrne’s choice was made out of convenience rather than political motivation, but the more cities he saw from his bicycle, the more he became hooked on this mode of transport and the sense of liberation it provided.

But thinking back on it, I would suggest that, yes, in a truly enlightened world all green objects are in a way related somehow, more than by just being green, and maybe they are related in a way we don’t understand yet, just as all hexagonal objects might share a common trait as well.

He muses on all manner of wide and varied subjects, many of which diarois only tangentially linked to the city covered in each chapter. He genuinely likes to ride and believes it can be good for many people.

Byrne is just too interested about too many different things to stick with one topic, and that was fine with me.
