I found it all very confusing and it was a slog to finish. There were various partial collections of some great names, names which no one reads all that much any more.

I have not given up on Balzac though and may even try him again, but without any recommendation from friends I doubt I will find the time. I took a chance and really was suprised how good it was! Inevitably they meet up again and resolve the issue but the reader isn’t sure who is duping whom.
