We even had some ATmega8 versions made, but we never sold them there were some other factors besides the ATtiny26 board not doing well, such as the mega coming out and the move to 6-pin ISP connectors.
I especially like the plated through holes, which are fantastic for prototyping if you have to remount components several times.
The LP data sheet does not give any insight into this situation. What I like about the ATtiny26 board is the convenient arrangement of two ports with access to power and ground at several points, coupled with the well-laid out prototyping area. I expect that the regulator can tolerate this but it might add some unnecessary current drain.
